The Vancouver Island Hispanic Network Society (VIHNS) is inviting dedicated and passionate individuals to apply for a position on our Board of Directors for the 2026 term. As a non-profit organization, VIHNS is committed to supporting and empowering the Hispanic community on Vancouver Island through cultural, educational, social and professional initiatives.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, strengthen community engagement, and help shape the organization’s strategic direction.
Board Term Options
Applicants may choose one of the following term options:
Two-year term: Six seats available.
APPLICATION PROCESS AND TIMELINE
Nomination & Application Period
Opens: March 1st, 2026
Closes: May 2nd, 2026
During this period, VIHNS members can nominate themselves or other members in good standing for specific Board positions.
Review of Applications
May 3rd – May 8th, 2026
Applications will be reviewed by the current Board to ensure alignment with VIHNS’s mission, governance principles, and organizational needs.
All applicants will be notified of their application status before the AGM whether their application is viable or not.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) & Election Results
Date: May 9th, 2026
Time: 10:00 PM – 12:00 PM
Location: 722 Cormorant St, 3rd floor, Victoria, BC V8W 1P8, Canadá
Final candidates will be announced at the AGM. All candidates elected must be present the AGM.
Newly elected Board members will officially begin their term after the AGM.

Board Member Responsibilities
Board members are expected to actively participate in Board meetings, committees, and events, ensuring their engagement in the organization’s strategic planning and community initiatives.
Eligibility & Qualifications
We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, emphasizing diversity in gender, ethnicity, country of origin, geographic representation across Vancouver Island, and professional expertise.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
Commitment to community service and volunteerism
Leadership experience and strategic thinking
Professional expertise beneficial to the organization (e.g., finance, marketing, governance, fundraising, advocacy)
Ability to collaborate and work within a team
Since meetings are carried out in Spanish, candidates must be fluent speakers.
